Registration is open for the October 6-8, 2021 Roadway Management Conference and this year’s event will be held at the Atlantic Sands Hotel and Conference Center, located right on the Boardwalk and just a few feet to the inviting sands of the Atlantic Ocean!
Hopefully not too inviting, though, because we are putting together a collection of technical sessions, equipment displays, and technology demonstrations that we believe will hold your interest until the end of the day.
Then, go for it! The beach, the Boardwalk, shops, restaurants, live bands, and other entertainment are all within easy walking distance. Truly magical hot fudge sundaes are just up the street. For those interested in tax-free outlet shopping, miniature golf, go-carts, other entertainment, and still more eateries, a short car ride out to Coastal Highway opens up all kinds of possibilities. For that matter, each of the Delaware beaches have their own personalities and you can explore those as well – Lewes, Dewey, Bethany, and South Bethany Beaches, as well as Fenwick Island (and, ok, even Ocean City, Maryland to be fair) are within a short drive. If your evenings are boring at this year’s RMC, that’s on you – it’s Disneyland without the long lines.
The daytime activities will keep you engaged also. Past attendees give the RMC high marks for our technical training, equipment displays, demonstrations, and an environment where they can get to know new colleagues and learn new solutions. Oh, our past attendees also critique us where we can do better and that input helps us build a better conference for you from year to year. As a region, the Virginia, Pennsylvania, Maryland, West Virginia, and Delaware LTAP/T2 Centers host the annual RMC to bring together hundreds of roadway practitioners from across the region. It is a lot of work, a year of more in the planning, but it is one of our favorite outlets for technology transfer.
Perhaps you have attended an RMC in the past? They are a long-standing tradition that had to take a hiatus because of the financial crisis, but we were finally able to return in 2018 in Gettysburg, followed by Turf Valley, MD in 2019. We were all set to lead you to Charlottesville, VA in 2020 when that thing turned our lives upside down. But we soldiered on and the Virginia team led the charge for a highly attended and successful virtual conference! You can imagine how happy we will be to see you all again in person this year.
So, it is time to act. Registration for the 3-day conference ($175 per attendee until September 1) is now open via this link and more details will be loaded in coming days to the conference website. Lodging ($89 +taxes, single and double occupancy) information is also linked on the site and you can reserve your room by phone with the hotel using the block code shown on the registration form. Also, the reserved room rates can be used through the weekend after the conference for those wishing to extend their stay.
In addition to participant registration, guest registrations are also available, there are sponsorship slots remaining, and we have opportunities for equipment and material vendors, as well as the ability to display equipment and demonstrate technologies.
The conference is an action packed, informative, fun, and affordable conference with something for everyone in the local roads management game. Whether you operate a shovel, a backhoe, a team, or a spreadsheet, you will find your money’s worth and your time’s worth in the technical sessions and outdoor demonstrations we have planned. Don’t take our word for it; have a look at our agenda for this year and photos from past years on the RMC website.
We are still adding to and fine tuning this year’s agenda and developing the outdoor demonstrations, so stay tuned to announcements (are you following us on Facebook yet?), but go ahead and get registered now before you forget.
