Description

Join us Wednesday, April 23rd, 2025 from 12:00pm to 1:00pm EST as our panel of speakers discuss VDOT’s Smart Scale process and the Safe Systems approach.

Smart Scale is a process that helps Virginia meet its most critical transportation needs using limited tax dollars. It evaluates potential transportation projects based on key factors like how they improve safety, reduce congestion, increase accessibility, contribute to economic development, promote efficient land use, and affect the environment.

VDOT’s Safe System approach aligns with the national goal of Vision Zero, aiming to eliminate traffic fatalities for all road users. This approach involves addressing all aspects of the road system, including safe road users, safe vehicles, safe speeds, safe roads, and post-crash care.
