This hybrid online class will combine both live instruction and independent online work that you will complete during the day.  Independent work will include quizzes, readings, videos and short assignments.  Access to a computer with a webcam (either a camera that is built into your laptop or one that connects via USB), a reliable internet connection and a workspace that is free from distraction and noise will set you up for success.

Description

This course is intended to ensure that participants gain a basic working knowledge of bridges and the maintenance and inspection process of “in-service” bridges. Students will learn about the different types of bridges, nomenclature of bridges and will be able to interpret an NBIS bridge inspection report. Bridge maintenance and upkeep will be discussed so that individuals will be able to make sound decisions for repairs of bridges. This is a basic course designed to help inexperienced workers prepare for the FHWA 2-week bridge inspection course or to be used as a refresher for bridge maintenance personnel who may be called on to perform occasional bridge inspection, repair and maintenance tasks.

Participants will be required to demonstrate proficiency in the following areas:
-Benefits of a preventive maintenance program
-Preventive maintenance techniques
-Bridge condition and evaluation of main bridge elements
-Selection of the proper repair methods for bridge deficiencies
-Interpretation of a bridge inspection report
-Simple field inspection of a bridge

Tony DeCresie

Tony DeCresie brings a very diverse and extensive background spanning numerous industries and businesses – working with both public and private entities. He is a nationally recognized and awarded training manager with several different organizations over the past 25 years.

Tony’s primary area of focus revolves around transportation, highway & road work site safety training and heavy equipment operations safety.
