Each UVA TTA workshop has a specific all-inclusive fee to cover costs associated with administering it. There are 2 types of fees that apply to each event: the public-sector fee (for federal, state, and local government employees) and the private-sector fee (for private sector employees and other non-governmental entities). Registration fees for employees (only) of the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) are paid automatically by the VDOT Center for Learning Services. However, VDOT employees still need to register for UVA TTA workshops following the instructions at the bottom of this page and elsewhere on this website. All other terms and conditions apply to VDOT employees.

To register for a UVA TTA workshop, please go to the Workshop Listing section of our website and click on the name of the workshop for detailed information about that class. At the top of the page for each workshop there will be a link to further instructions on how to register and make payments for that class.

We accept payment by check, government purchase order, or credit card (VISA, Mastercard, American Express, and Discover). Once payment is received, a registration confirmation will be sent to the participant by e-mail or fax. Final confirmation and detailed instructions on class location, starting time, etc. will be sent to all admitted registrants a few days prior to the class.

We accept registrations on a first-come, first served basis. For our most popular classes you may be placed on a wait list if the class is filled. You will be notified by our staff if this situation occurs. Full refunds (or credit applied for a future class) will be issued to those placed on a wait list and not accepted into the class.

Any questions regarding your enrollment status (admitted, wait list), class details (location, date, etc.), special dietary needs, or other accommodations should be directed to:

Refunds and Cancellations: Except as noted below, cancellations must be received in writing by 12:00 PM on the Friday of the week prior to the date of the class. For cancellations after this deadline, only participant substitutions will be allowed. For  8-week online classes only, cancellations will be accepted at no charge up to one week following the first day of the class. Refunds for registration fees paid by credit card can only be applied to the credit card account used to make payment. Refunds for all other forms of payment will be processed through the University of Virginia’s (UVA) Accounts Payable process. In order to receive a payment from UVA you or your organization must be registered with UVA as a “vendor”. To obtain a copy of instructions on how to register as a vendor click How to Register with UVA. You can also visit http://www.procurement.virginia.edu/pagevendors for more information.

Inclement Weather: If you are registered for a class but you have weather-related responsibilities and can no longer attend the workshop, please tell us as soon as possible by emailing  uva-tta@virginia.edu.  If the class is held without you, please have your supervisor email uva-tta@virginia.edu as soon as possible to confirm your weather-related responsibilities and that you were not able to attend the workshop.  If a workshop is rescheduled due to weather, then your payment and registration will be applied to the rescheduled dates.  If the workshop is held and you are not able to attend, then you can apply your payment to another TTA workshop.

Information for Commonwealth of Virginia P.E. License Holders. The Transportation Training Academy classes may qualify for Virginia PE License renewal credits.

In April 2009 the Commonwealth of Virginia Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation (VA DPOR) promulgated new regulations regarding continuing education requirements for holders of the Professional Engineer (PE) license in Virginia. (Click here to download a copy of the applicable regulations. See particularly pp 65—69 18VAC10-20-683 Continuing Education Requirements for Renewal or Reinstatement for full details.) Transportation Training Academy classes may help Virginia PE license holders meet the new VA DPOR continuing education requirements. Most one-day classes involve 6.8 hours of instructional “contact time”. Under the new regulations, 50 minutes of “contact time” equals one professional development hour (PDH) for Virginia PE license renewal purposes. Therefore, attending a typical one-day class earns the license holder 8.2 PDHs. For a typical two-day class (13.6 instructional hours) license holders earn 16.3 PDHs, and so on. UVA TTA provides an attendance certificate to each student who completes one of our classes that documents the number of instructional “contact hours” for that class. Virginia PE license holders should retain that certificate for documentation in the event of an audit by VA DPOR.

If you have questions about the new regulations contact the VA DPOR Board for Architects, Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors, Certified Interior designers and Landscape Architects (APELSCIDLA Board) at (804)367-8506 or (804)367-8512 or e-mail at apelscidla@dpor.virginia.gov.

Information for Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) Employees

All VDOT employees must enroll in a Transportation Training Academy workshop through the VDOT Virtual University. Transportation Training Academy workshop registration fees and related expenses for all VDOT employees willl be paid from the VDOT Center for Learning Services budget. The Transportation Training Academy will direct bill the VDOT Center for Learning Services for workshop registration fees.

Due to current travel restrictions, VDOT employees are strongly encouraged to attend Transportation Training Academy workshops on a day trip basis. Overnight travel requires permission from your District Administrator or Chief — and in some cases higher levels of authority. If you require overnight lodging to attend a Transportation Training Academy workshop, consult with your supervisor, District Training staff, or the VDOT Center for Learning Services on travel approval procedures.
