Description

This presentation will discuss ongoing efforts by the Virginia Transportation Research Council (VTRC) and the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) to evaluate and implement polymer concrete materials for bridge deck overlay applications in Virginia.

Dr. Gabriel Arce

Dr. Gabriel Arce is a Research Scientist at the Virginia Transportation Research Council (VTRC), the research division of the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT). His work focuses on the development and implementation of advanced concrete materials for transportation infrastructure.

Dr. Arce leads and collaborates on numerous VDOT-funded research projects involving supplementary cementitious materials, engineered cementitious composites, polymer concrete, and electrical-based methods for concrete durability assessment, among others. He is an active member of several national committees, including ACI Committee 240 on Pozzolans and the TRB Committee AKH12 (Concrete Bridges and Structures). His research advances practical, performance-based solutions for longer-lasting and more sustainable infrastructure.
