This hybrid online class will combine both live instruction and independent online work that you will complete during the day.  Independent work will include quizzes, readings, videos and short assignments.  Access to a computer with a webcam (either a camera that is built into your laptop or one that connects via USB), a reliable internet connection and a workspace that is free from distraction and noise will set you up for success.

Description

The Speed Management Techniques and Applications Course is designed to provide participants with the knowledge and principles for applying various techniques for countering speeding and speed related crashes. Participants will have 2 exercises using the NHTSA Fars and FHWA USLIMITS2 programs.

Instructor

Jeff LaMondia

Jeffrey LaMondia, PhD, is an associate professor in transportation engineering in the civil and environmental engineering department at Auburn University. Dr. LaMondia is an expert in travel demand modeling and travel behavior analysis, with a focus on inclusive planning methods, innovative data collection methods, long distance travel forecasting, and infrastructure LOS impacts on cyclist behaviors.  His work utilizes unique travel survey methods, big data analyses, geographic information systems (GIS) and discrete choice modeling. His research has been funded through Federal Highway Administration, Centers for Disease Control, state Departments of Transportation, University Transportation Centers, and other agencies.
